IACSP ASEAN Security Symposium and Awards is timely as DAESH and other groups threaten the security of the region

Understanding the great threat towards security in the South East Asia region, International Association for Counter­terrorism and Security Professionals (IACSP) together with Fleming is organizing the IACSP Asean Security Symposium & Awards from September 6th ­7th 2016 in Kuala Lumpur.

DAESH Threat

The IACSP ASEAN Security Symposium and Awards is timely as DAESH and other groups threaten the security of the region. The event will highlight trends in educational and operational expertise in responding and addressing the threats of DAESH and other terrorist groups within Southeast Asia” said Andrin Raj, IACSP SEA Regional Director during the press conference.

The symposium brings together the fact that there is a great threat towards the security in this region and it needs to be tackled as more terrorism activities are taking place. The symposium is targeted at discussing all factors which counter terrorism activities. The event will feature experts who are experienced and well knowledgeable in the area of counter­terrorism strategies.

Expert Speakers

Inspector General of the Royal Malaysian Police ­YDH. Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Khalid bin Abu Bakar will be delivering the special address alongside with Minister of Foreign Affairs ­ African Integration, Francophone, and Benisese Abroad of Benin ­ H.E Mr. Nassirou Bako Airfare on the opening of the symposium in September.

The experienced speakers confirmed for the symposium include Dr. Amiruddin Bin Abdul Wahab, Chief Executive Officer of Cybersecurity Malaysia, Philip Baum, Aviation Security International Editor in Chief USA and Dr. Anne Speckhard, Director of ICSVE and Adj Assoc. Professor of Psychiatry, United States as well as a senior representative from Interpol, United Nations Counter­terrorism unit and other experts. 

“In the current turbulent times terrorism and security are issues that are concerning every single one of us. Therefore, we at Fleming are using our global expertise and international connections to bring this amazing program in Malaysia and help ASEAN countries to get the knowledge on how to tackle these issues and defend their citizens” said Mr Silvester Pullman ­ the Managing Director of Fleming.

Mej Jen (rtd) Dato' Ansar Ali a/l Majeth from the Royal Malaysian Air Force & IACSP SEA Adviser said “The security environment in South East Asia, like many parts of the world today, is affected by the terrorism threat as well. Moreover, this threat is on the increasing trend in the region. This conference is there­fore not only timely but inevitable. It will enable the relevant stakeholders to enhance their awareness of this threat and the technologies available to combat it. Moreover, it even allows for strategies and tactics to be developed by the stakeholders to contend with this menacing threat.”

Workshops And Discussions

The IACSP ASEAN Security Symposium & Awards will feature 4 workshops and over 20 hours of discus­sion. It will also be awarding government organizations and agencies who are deserving in areas of homeland and defense security. Nominations are open to ASEAN countries, China, Japan, Korea & India.

Three focused categories will be up for nominations and they are Criminal Justice, Basic Security Discipline and Safety, Security Forces & Emergency Services. The award will be presented during the gala night of the symposium.

The award also recognizes those who have sacrificed their lives in order to protect the country. Special Awards are in honor of the late Superintendent Ibrahim Lebar of the Royal Malaysian Police and The Late Private Ahmad Hurrairah Bin Ismail of the Malaysian Army who sacrificed their lives for Malaysia during the Sabah insurgency of the terrorist attacks in 2013.
