MOBOTIX takes up factory security for Richard Austin Alloys
MOBOTIX's CCTV system has delivered a return on investment in just 9 months
MOBOTIX AG, a leading manufacturer of complete high-resolution IP video systems have released details of an installation of its MOBOTIX CCTV at Richard Austin Alloys, one of the UK's largest independent aluminum and stainless steel stockholders which has delivered a return on investment in just 9 months.

At various locations throughout the UK, Richard Austin Alloys has invested in a comprehensive stock range, modern warehouse and processing facilities and a professional sales team. With an extended working day in sales and a 24-hour warehouse shift system, the firm is known in the industry for delivering a high standard of service and quality to its customers.

At its site in Glasgow, which holds several million pounds worth of stock at any given time, the firm had traditionally used a security guard backed by an old analog CCTV system. But as Tim Kelly, Managing Director of Richard Austin Alloys explains: "The image quality of the system was not good and security guards are extremely vulnerable to being targeted by raiders both through threats of violence or by financial inducement."

After deciding that the site needed a better system to protect its stock and workers, the firm approached Eclipse (IP) Ltd, a local MOBOTIX partner for advice. Based on the size of the site and level of security required, Eclipse recommended a nine camera MOBOTIX solution which would provide complete perimeter, main reception and entry and exit point coverage.

"The image quality of the MOBOTIX cameras means we can now clearly identify every person and vehicle anywhere on the site," comments Kelly. "The quality is so good that number plates can be read - day or night with 100% accuracy." The firm also chose to have the CCTV remotely monitored by Eclipse (IP) Ltd. "The switch to a monitored CCTV system meant we didn't need to pay for an overnight security guard that has allowed the system to pay for itself in just 9 months," explains Kelly. "Also, there is no danger that a guard will get compromised or injured if the site was raided."

The MOBOTIX solution has worked flawlessly since it was installed and the firm has only had the need to utilize images on the system to check a minor health and safety issue. "Eclipse provided a first class service and the system does exactly what we expected combined with the cost savings made this an extremely successful project," Kelly concludes.
