At the Security Essen show, Sony Professional is reinforcing its leadership of the HD IP security camera market by exhibiting its extensive solutions portfolio. The HD range has been bolstered by ten new product additions following recent launches at IFSEC. The expanded portfolio includes five new full HD E series cameras and five HD and Full HD X series cameras. Through the introduction of these new models, Sony has completed its HD and full HD line-up, which now stands at 28 products for a variety of indoor and outdoor uses.

Bruno Winnen, Head of Video Security for Sony Professional said: "HD remains a key focus for Sony and the solutions we are showing at Security Essen 2010 demonstrate Sony's understanding of the security market as the industry continues on its move from analog to IP. HD has the potential to transform the security industry but to date this opportunity has not been fully tapped."

Sony's most recent HD/full HD range consists of three different series. The V series is top of the range and offers the highest picture quality. This series is ideally suited for transport and city surveillance customers, as it incorporates Sony's View-DR technology. This pioneering technology overcomes the common problems associated with strong backlighting especially in entrances, by offering one of the widest dynamic ranges (130dB) in the market; even images that are recorded with strong backlighting appear clear and visible.

While the E series is a standard range that offers strong HD picture quality for general applications, such as office buildings, education institutions, banks and the healthcare industry. Finally, the X series is an entry level range offering simplicity and cost efficiency for smaller applications, such as retail outlets and residential dwellings. It is only with this breadth of technology that Sony can offer an HD solution to suit every application and installation scenario.

Market demand for HD IP products is growing; 45% of IP camera sold in 2010 in EMEA are expected to be high resolution cameras according to IMS Research. Market research suggests that saturation will continue with 57% of IP camera sold in 2012 expected to be HD. Sony is driving adoption of HD IP technology by offering the most comprehensive HD/full HD range in the market.

With the available Sony portfolio of solutions there has never been a better time to adopt an IP infrastructure. The range includes HD cameras suited to small business environments such as independent retail shops right up to large multiple camera scenarios, such as sporting stadiums. Sony remains the only technology provider capable of delivering both the cameras and the additional technology features which enable customers to realize full value from their investments.

Winnen, commented: "With Sony's ever growing range of HD cameras, we are now able to offer customers a complete HD security solution, from the initial image capture to playback, regardless of the recording scenario. When combined with our HD compatible recorders and HD display units, we have a unique advantage over our competitors who still only offer a limited range of HD technology."
