ONVIF (Open Network Video Interface Forum)
ONVIF now intensifies its work towards a global, open standard for the interface of network video products

ONVIF (Open Network Video Interface Forum) recently announced that the forum has accepted 18 new members since the beginning of 2009. Cisco, Samsung and Siemens have joined the forum as full members and Anixter and Milestone as contributing members. ONVIF has now grown to a total of 40 member companies. A complete listing can be found at www.onvif.org.

In line with its growing member base, ONVIF has extended the number of seats in each forum committee to a total of five seats from the previous three. The new positions have been filled through an invitation and election process that was finalized in mid February. As a result, Cisco and Panasonic are now members of both the Steering Committee and the Technical Committee. Samsung was voted into the Technical Services Committee and the Communication Committee, and the final seats in the Technical Services Committee and Communication Committee were taken by Anixter and Hikvision respectively.

With support from its new members, ONVIF now intensifies its work towards a global, open standard for the interface of network video products. Meetings for all committees with their new members will be held on March 3-4 in Tokyo, Japan. This is also the starting point for multiple work groups that will work in parallel on the continuous development of the ONVIF specification, test tool and test specification. The first versions of the ONVIF core specification and test specification were released in the end of 2008 and are available for download on the forum's website.
