IP physical security systems require a powerful mix of infrastructure components, ranging from robust high-speed cabling and PoE/PoE+ power delivery, to IPv4 and IPv6 connections and high-capacity network equipment. A single flaw in any of these components will seriously compromise system availability, as well as the overall security of a facility and its occupants.

For that reason, security integrators must assure that the IP systems they install keep working for customers 24/7/365. The SignalTEK® II Qualifier from IDEAL helps integrators achieve that goal by testing and troubleshooting critical functions required for IP physical security system success.

Here's how it works: SignalTEK II begins the job by verifying that the system's copper or fiber cabling is capable of supporting bandwidth-heavy IP-based video surveillance applications over 10/100 Megabit or Gigabit Ethernet.

Next, SignalTEK II will test IP connections, validating proper DHCP and static IPv4 and IPv6 addressing, testing Internet and cloud connections with Ping and Trace Route, and ensuring connectivity to NVRs, video clients, decoders and wireless nodes. It will also load test network capacity between cameras and the NVR, storage and client locations, as well as simulate any number of MJPEG or H.264 cameras with resolutions up to 5MP.

Finally, SignalTEK II generates documentation verifying network connectivity and job completion to initiate customer payment. Test results are easily downloaded, viewed and printed via a web browser. The reports provide a simple "Pass/Fail" summary as well as individual test result details to share with customers.

Being a multifunctional device for both fiber and copper, SignalTEK II offers major cost savings, as it eliminates the need to purchase separate testers for different media. Plus, because it troubleshoots throughput problems in existing installations, a separate transmission tester isn't required, presenting more savings for the contractor.
