Counter Terror Expo 2010 hosts Perimeter Protection & Intrusion Detection Workshop
The topic of the presentation is Perimeter Security and Surveillance using Scanning Radar Technology

Dr. Stephen Clark, co-founder and Business Development Director of Navtech Radar, the world leading developer and manufacturer of millimetre wave (MMW) radar sensor solutions for outdoor security and surveillance applications, will be speaking at the Perimeter Protection & Intrusion Detection Workshop at Britain's only international expo dedicated to the counter terrorism and specialist security arena.

The topic of the presentation is Perimeter Security and Surveillance using Scanning Radar Technology and will specifically focus on the application of high frequency radar for detection and tracking, the advantages of 360° detection providing real time intruder locations and CCTV images. The presentation will further provide insight into the interpretation of radar data and associated software analysis and show real examples of its use for perimeter security.

"Radar is a fast emerging technology for critical outdoor security and surveillance applications and we see an increasing interest for the technology from areas which have been troubled by unauthorized intruders. As the operators of key infrastructure sites, such as power stations, broadcast transmitters, data centres, oilfield, water reservoir etc. have become increasingly aware that they could be targeted, the requirement is to implement technology solutions which not only detect intruders when they breach the perimeter, but also provide early warning when approaching a site or indeed track multiple intruders within a site," says Dr. Clark.

"As the threat from determined intruders continues to increase, the focus invariably moves towards technology solutions which facilitate early and continuous detection of threats in order to allow for more time to raise counter measures. At the workshop presentation we will provide insights into how security radar works and why this technology solution offers a unique capability to combat the threat from attempted perimeter incursion. We will also give examples of suitable applications for radar technology showing the radar controlling: day/night PTZ cameras, thermal cameras, including a video of incident footage. Some spin off uses of the same technology will also be shown including a radar helicopter landing system, designed and tested by Navtech for desert use."

Counter Terror Expo is the only major international exhibition and conference of its kind to take place in the UK. Last year's event broke expected attendance figures by a factor of 50 percent - in excess of 4,000 qualified personnel from government, military, law enforcement, intelligence and private sector organizations from the UK and Overseas attended. Counter Terror Expo is held at the National Hall at Olympia in London April 14 -15, 2010. Navtech will be exhibiting at Stand E11. Dr. Clark's presentation will take place on Thursday, April 15, 10:25 - 10:45 a.m. at the Perimeter Protection & Intrusion Detection workshop.
