The purpose of the Mission 500 CSR Award is to honor companies in the security industry

Mission 500, a non-profit initiative focusing on the security industry and dedicated to serving the needs of children and communities in crisis, is seeking applicants for the 2012 Mission 500 CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) Award and Humanitarian Awards. The Awards will be presented at a special cocktail reception on March 29, 2012 during ISC West in Las Vegas.

The purpose of the Mission 500 CSR Award is to honor companies in the security industry who make important contributions to those in need. The judging criteria includes an assessment of applicants' CSR programs as they relate to effectiveness in impacting the communities they focus on, involvement of their personnel, sustainability and long term impact, as well as activities involved beyond financial contributions.

Any company in the security industry can be nominated. A judging panel will evaluate all applicants based on the above-mentioned criteria and their respective contributions toward social causes. The 2011 recipient was Pelco by Schneider Electric, who have a long tradition of helping those in need via their Community Partnership Program which recruits employees and their families to actively participate in charity events in the community. Employees logged in over 20,000 hours of community volunteering in 2010 to support its many initiatives.

During the same event, Mission 500 will also present its Humanitarian Award, designed to honor individuals in the security industry who make important contributions to those in need. The 2011 recipient, Barbara Holliday, Director of Dealer Services for Monitronics Security, is an Advocate Volunteer at The Turning Point, a sponsor of Women for Women International, and also a volunteer judge for the FCCLA STAR (Students Taking Action with Recognition) Events.

Mission 500 is also hosting its third 5K charity run at ISC West on March 29, 2012, and now features a 2K walk as well. The Security 5/2K is the first charity-driven event at an ISC Expo conceived to engage corporate sponsors as well as individuals within the industry.

The Security 5K is a joint collaboration between United Publications, publishers of Security Systems News and Security Director News; Reed Exhibitions/ISC Expos, and Mission 500. Charter sponsors are Alarm.com, Altronix Corporation, AXIS Communications, DMP, Deister Electronics, Ditek, HID, LRG Marketing Communications, Panasonic, Pelco by Schneider Electric, Samsung, and Safety Technology International, Inc.
