ASIS International 2010: The must-attend event for the security industry
ASIS 2010 will offer more than 180 sessions covering the full range of timely security topics and critical issues
More than 20,000 security professionals from around the world will meet in Dallas from October 12-15 for ASIS International's 56th Annual Seminar and Exhibits (ASIS 2010). ASIS 2010, to be held at the Dallas Convention Centre, will offer more than 180 educational sessions covering the full range of timely security topics and critical issues, as well as core security-management best practices and strategies. Attendees will be able to mix-and-match sessions from 15 tracks -including crisis management, critical infrastructure protection, crime/loss prevention, physical security, homeland security, IT/information security, government/military security, investigations and more - to customize a programme that meets everyone's needs.

Additional professional development opportunities are offered through pre-seminar intensives, education programmes scheduled prior to the official opening of the Annual Seminar and Exhibits.

Exhibitors will include some 750 manufacturers, inventors, service providers and entrepreneurs. The ASIS 2010 exhibits floor is the largest marketplace dedicated solely to security technologies, products and services for safeguarding people, property and information. Exhibit hall hours are 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., October 12-14.

Attendees will also hear first-hand accounts of bravery and courage from renowned newsmakers. Keynote speakers include former Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf and "Miracle on the Hudson" pilot Chesley B. Sullenberger III.

From 2001 to 2008, President Musharraf served as the 10th President of Pakistan, in what TIME Magazine described as "the most dangerous job in the world." After the attacks of September 11, 2001, President Musharraf became America's chief ally in the region in the struggle against the Taliban, playing a crucial role in the global war on terror. President Musharraf, who survived two assassination attempts, will share his experiences on Thursday, October 14 at 8 a.m.

Captain Sullenberger became an international hero on January 15, 2009 when he and his crew safely guided US Airways Flight 1549 to an emergency water landing in New York City's frigid Hudson River, saving the lives of 155 people. The plane's two engines had lost thrust following a bird strike. Sullenberger is an aviation safety expert and accident investigator who also serves as the founder and Chief Executive Officer of Safety Reliability Methods, a consulting company dedicated to management, safety, performance and reliability consulting. He will speak on Wednesday, October 13 at 8 a.m.

On Friday, October 15, humorist and best-selling author Dave Barry will address attendees at the closing luncheon. For 25 years Barry was a syndicated columnist whose work appeared in more than 500 newspapers in the United States and abroad. In 1988 he won the Pulitzer Prize for Commentary. He has written 30 books.

ASIS 2010 offers unparalleled networking occasions through special events (including a golf tournament, receptions and luncheons), peer-to-peer discussions and myriad opportunities on and off the exhibit floor. Thursday, October 14 is Law Enforcement/Military Appreciation Day. Active law enforcement and military professionals are invited to attend the keynote on this day, as well as the educational sessions and the exhibit floor - at no charge.
