Saudi’s leading security, fire and safety workshops and exhibition will be taking place 16-18 May 2016. This year’s event will follow a workshop led format which will consist of six workshops, held across two days. The 2016 program will include a wide range of topics across the safety and security spectrum, topics include terrorism, cyber security, facility management, safety leadership and more.

Combating Terrorist Threats

The Saudi Arabian Kingdom is highly focussed on combating terrorism and establishing safety across the region. Workshop 1, Applying lessons learned to the threat of terrorist attacks will take an in-depth look at the on-going threat of terrorism throughout the MENA region. The workshop will aim to better prepare security managers or individuals faced with similar situations by examining lessons learned and industry best practices. Attendees will be introduced to ways of mitigating the potential consequences of an attack through situational awareness. Speaking at the workshop will be Martin Reardon, Senior Vice President at The Soufan Group.

Risk Mitigation Case Studies

Other workshop topics include lessons learned from past disasters and risk mitigation by facility management which will consist of a thorough analysis of various disasters which have occurred in the region. Case studies include the Holy Makkah Mosque crane incident and the Jezan Hospital Fire disaster. Speaking at the workshop will be Anas Abdullah AlZaid, General Director of Safety and Security, Ministry of Health. Workshop 2 will review the causes of such incidents and analyze the current situation of the safety field, with an objective on how to learn from these and ways of avoidance.

Securing The Hajj

These topics reflect the current challenges within the region, especially following last year’s tragedy of deaths at the Hajj 2015 in Mina, Mecca. This was the deadliest Hajj disaster in years, resulting in immense pressure to ensure the safety of those participating in Septembers 2016 Hajj. In April 2016 a meeting was held by the Saudi Crown Prince Mohammad Bin Nayef, deputy premier and minister of interior and chairman of the Supreme Hajj Committee (SHC).
