INSIDE Secure recently introduced its EasyPlug cryptographic middleware software that enables developers to quickly and easily add strong security to mobile devices, USB tokens, PC-Link products and embedded systems. Certified by Microsoft and natively linked to the INSIDE family of VaultIC and VaultSEcure security solutions, the EasyPlug makes INSIDE Secure the only security vendor providing developers with a complete plug-and-play cryptographic solution that combines tamper proof Common Criteria EAL 5+ hardware, FIPS 140-2 certified firmware and a Microsoft-certified smartcard minidriver.

INSIDE’s comprehensive security offering eliminates the extra margin, licensing and integration costs associated with obtaining these components from multiple vendors.

“Our EasyPlug middleware reduces the cost of implementing advanced cryptographic capabilities and demonstrates INSIDE’s commitment to providing complete solutions that our customers can use to quickly build advanced security features in their products,” said Bernard Vian, executive vice president for Secure Transactions at INSIDE Secure. “In a complete solution with our VaultIC security modules, EasyPlug simplifies securing applications like browsers, SSL authentication, remote access, single sign-on, documents and email. In the future, EasyPlug will enable us to offer complete cryptographic solutions for a broad range of INSIDE hardware security modules.”

According to Vian, the increasing prominence of attacks is motivating use of secure hardware beyond traditional applications like payments. INSIDE’s EasyPlug solution makes it easy for manufacturers to add its secure microcontrollers to the huge swathe of existing applications based on current standards for cryptographic APIs.

With a flexible architecture designed to be deployed in USB, PC-Link or embedded systems, EasyPlug middleware automatically identifies and provides the appropriate cryptographic functionality for the platform and application through standard application programming interfaces (APIs). In addition to the VaultIC API for use in embedded systems, the EasyPlug middleware also provides a smartcard minidriver that is CSP compliant with Microsoft applications as well as a PKCS #11 API, for non- Microsoft applications.

Availability

The INSIDE Secure EasyPlug middleware is available now for use with VaultIC 1xx and 4xx families on Microsoft Windows, Mac OS and Linux operating systems.
