SecuTech Expo 2010 received positive response with quality exhibitors from the security industry 
The 13th edition of the security show drew record number of exhibitors from 19 countries 
Secutech Expo, Asia's most international trade fair for total security solutions, held from 21-23 April, 2010 at the Nangang Taipei World Trade Center, Taiwan, attracted a record number of exhibitors and visitors.

The 13th edition drew 553 exhibitors who showcased the latest products in 34,020 sq m of exhibition space. These exhibitors came from 19 countries and regions: Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, the Czech Republic, Germany, Hong Kong, India, Iran, Italy, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Russia, Singapore, Sweden, Taiwan, the UK and the USA.

Exhibitor numbers increased by nine per cent compared to the 2009 event. The show also attracted 22,690 visitors from 90 countries and regions, an increase of two per cent. Of these, more than 11 per cent of visitors came from overseas. The top 10 visitor countries outside Taiwan were (greatest first): Japan, Korea, China (including Hong Kong), Malaysia, Singapore, the USA, Thailand, India, Indonesia and the Philippines.

Mr Parson Lee, Managing Director, Messe Frankfurt New Era Business Media Ltd, said: "It is really encouraging to see this remarkable result. Despite the current economic climate, the show continues to gain momentum and we have set new records for exhibitor and visitor numbers. In particular I am happy that we have more buyers from Asia this year."

He added: "However, it was unfortunate that some buyers were not able to attend the show as a result of Iceland's volcanic ash which led to the cancellation of flights from Europe. In view of this, we will take measures to assist the affected buyers."

Mr Lin Chien-Yuan, Deputy Mayor of Taipei City, officially opened the fair. He said: "Secutech Expo is the pride of Taiwan and visitors have chosen us as the right place to source as many quality exhibitors are here."

The security show included special events to provide opportunities for sharing latest technology and market intelligence 

Secutech Expo 2010 continued to attract a number of world's leading companies to showcase their latest products. US exhibitor HID Global, a leading manufacturer of secure identity solutions and smart card technology, has exhibited at the show for more than 10 years. Mr Jimmy Fung, Regional Sales Manger commented: "The show offers an excellent platform for us to build positive corporate image and confidence to buyers. It is also a good channel to meet with new and existing agents and distributors."

He added: "We've met many professional buyers here and received potential enquiries from the Southeast Asia and the Middle East. In spite of the current economic situation, I am very confident about the security market."

Texas Instruments Incorporated was also confident about the show and the security market. "We've had many private meetings with buyers and generated many valuable sales leads. I am glad to know many of them are decision makers. It is worthwhile to exhibit at the show," said Mr Jeremiah Golston, Video Technology CTO. "As the world's security awareness increases, demand for surveillance products is strong despite the economic climate. I expect the security market and our company will continue to grow in the coming years."

German company ABUS Security-Center was also impressed with the quality of visitors. Mr Frank Wurfel, Technical Manger explained: "The visitors I've met at the show are professional, high-level and experienced. Our booth has been very busy and we've had very good talks with buyers. I am happy that we've collected many good business contacts."

Taiwanese exhibitor Dynacolor Inc, specializing in video surveillance products, has been exhibiting at Secutech Expo for years. Mr Andy Chen, Marketing Project Leader said: "This year I see more big brands and this reflects the importance of the fair. I've met with buyers from Italy, France, the USA, Spain, India, Singapore, Hong Kong and Japan."

HDPro Co Ltd, a leading manufacturer of CCTV camera, was one of the exhibitors from Korea. Ms Kate Lee, Sales Manager, Overseas Sales & Marketing Department said Taiwan is strong in IT and so many international buyers come to this show. "In addition to the local buyers from Taiwan, we've also met visitors from India, Japan, Singapore, Malaysia, the Philippines and Thailand. I am happy that we have already received onsite orders," she added.

Chinese pavilion exhibitor Hangzhou Hikvision Digital Technology Co Ltd supplies their high-definition DVRs and provides other technical supports to many international projects such as the Shanghai World Expo, National Olympics Stadium (Bird Nest) in Beijing and Universal Studios in USA. Mr Derek Yang, Asia Region Manager said: "We come here to look for new business opportunities, particularly from the emerging markets in Asia and the Middle East. We've met buyers from Japan, Korea, Taiwan, Singapore, Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand, Indonesia, India and the Middle East. Of these, 20-30 per cent are new leads."

Sixth time exhibitor Notifier by Honeywell is the world's largest manufacturer of engineered fire alarm systems. Mr Zacky H L Woo, Managing Director, Asia Pacific, Honeywell Life Safety, said the company launches new products every year and Secutech is a good platform for introducing new products to the market. "Our business in Asia has grown rapidly these years and I am very confident about the security market," he pointed out.

This year, a total of 99 seminars under seven themed conferences were organized and these attracted 11,741 attendees

Also launching a new product at the show was WPG System Pte Ltd from Singapore. Mr Andy Low, Vice President said: "I am an old friend of Secutech Expo. I see many market leaders are exhibiting. This year, we showcased the new technology video synopsis which is an approach to create a short video summary of a long video. Many visitors are very interested in this new technology and the show helps us promote our new product in a very good way."

US company Taser International launched the new multi-shot electronic control devices at the show. Mr Bor Han Jiang, Instructor commented: "I am happy with the visitor flow and high level of professionalism of the show. Most of the exhibiting companies are real manufacturers and they are international big brands."

Fifth time Singaporean exhibitor Asis Technologies Pte Ltd is a leading supplier in the intrusion, access control and building facilities management industry. Ms Sabrian Lai, Sales Manager commented that the show was a good channel for developing business relationships. "Over the years, the show has grown and we certainly benefit from this. As this is the largest show in Asia, it attracts a wide range of audience. Where else to expand in Asia better than here?" she added.

The show receives positive response for quality exhibitors

Many international buyers came to this one-stop show for total security solutions and they were satisfied with the quality of exhibitors.

Dr Vallap Kingchansilp, President for GUTS Group of Company and Asian Professional Security Association (APSA) - Thailand Chapter was one of the invited VIP buyers at the business matching session. "We've met three companies and we are very impressed with their quality. I've already signed agreements with the exhibitors from Singapore and Australia," he said. "As security consciousness increases, I see huge opportunity in the market."

Tenth time Brazilian visitor Mr Sergio Americano Mendes of Sektronix was also enthusiastic about the show. "Secutech Expo is the most professional show that I've visited ever and it is the best sourcing location. The exhibitors here are very efficient, we talked about products and price directly. I really love this show," he said. "It allows me to learn the latest technology because Asia is a manufacturing powerbase."

Mr Frantisek Cerny, General Manager of Elnika from the Czech Republic, has visited the show more than 10 times since its inception. He commented: "We specialize in safeguard and fire products. I am particularly looking for Taiwanese products due to good quality and price. Our business partners are all here. I would say this is the best sourcing place to me."

Making his first visit to Secutech was an Indian company Livedarshan. Company representative Mr Vivek Bagri said: "We are looking for IP surveillance products. The exhibitors I've met are top-level companies and I know they will become my suppliers. The show brings the whole industry together; I've met with exhibitors from all over the world such as the Czech Republic, the UK, Brazil, Chile, the US, Argentina, Africa, Indonesia, HK, Malaysia and Vietnam. Our company is very optimistic about the security industry and that we are projecting an increase of 50% in sales this year."

Special events provide opportunities for sharing latest technology and market intelligence

Secutech Expo organized a number of fringe events for industry players and experts to network and exchange information and ideas. This year, a total of 99 seminars under seven themed conferences were organized and these attracted 11,741 attendees.

Running alongside the show was the 9th Global Digital Surveillance Forum Asia (GDSF Asia). The forum is acknowledged as one of the most important industry events where security and IT leaders share the latest technology information. There were nine seminars relating to HD Video Surveillance and Management in Video Surveillance.

The GDSF Asia was presented by many prominent industry speakers. Speaker Mr Mohan Shanmugasundaram, Technical Program Manager and Senior Security Consultant, Microsoft Global Security said: "I am happy that the forum was well-attended. Security has become a necessity. We aim to educate to the audience that speed and accuracy are two important elements when we talk about security."

Another popular event was CompoSec Conference 2010 which explored product trends and development issues. The three-day conference focused on HD Surveillance Technology, Video Compression and Processing and Intelligent Security Management. Mr Steven Chen, Assistant Manager from electronic products giant Hitachi Ltd was one of the speakers. He introduced the new finger vein identification technology which is used by more than 80 per cent of Japanese banks. He commented: "Our objective is to educate and update the audience with the latest technical developments and product knowledge. I hope that more people will benefit from this safe and reliable technology in the near future."

Mr Thomas Fan, RD Division, Vice Director, CTC Union Technologies Co Ltd visits Secutech Expo every year. He attended a number of seminars and found them useful. "Speakers are all very professional and I learnt new technology and products," he said. "The concepts and ideas introduced in the seminars are very interesting. I can also explore new business opportunities through participating in these seminars."

Ms Sandy Liac, a representative from Acti Corporation attended a seminar on intelligent security management. She praised the high level of professionalism of the seminar. "It updates me with the latest market trend and it actually serves as a roadmap for companies," she said.
