Unsteady video and long delay are very common problems in the CCTV IP project. The CCTV IP network is different from traditional data communication networks, given that it requires high performance in terms of delay, packet loss and more.

Dahua Technology, an advanced video surveillance solution provider with in-depth knowledge of video surveillance systems, has brought out the Dahua PoE switch, which is specially designed to suit video stream characteristics and solve the aforementioned problems.

Dahua 16/24 Port PoE Switch

Dahua recently released the new Port PoE switches; these are the PFS4218-16ET-190/240 (190W and 240W optional) and the PFS4226-24ET-240/360 (240W and 360W optional). These two PoE switches are specially designed based on Dahua’s wealth of experience in video surveillance systems and are ideal for video transmission.

Characteristics Of New 16/24-Port PoE Switches

PoE Management Features

The PoE Setting feature allows the user to reserve some power manually through the web management interface, which can reserve power for the IP cameras which need extra power at, such as an IP camera with IR feature which requires more power during the night. It also shows the real-time power consumption.

The Green PoE feature allows the user to set a schedule for PoE consumption, which sets the PoE switch to provide power at certain times. For example, the user can choose “9:00 to 21:00”, which means the PoE switch will provide power from 9:00 am to 21:00 pm and will cut off the power supply outside this time period, thereby saving energy.

Long Distance PoE Transmission

Regular PoE transmission distance is up to 100 metres; however, the PFS4218-16ET-190/240 and PFS4226-24ET-240/360 can realize 250-meter PoE transmission through simple configuration in the web management interface. This will save on costs of the SFP module and also optical fiber, including installation costs.

Power Usage Indicator

The power usage indicator in the front panel can show the current PoE consumption of the PoE switch, which can help the user determine whether to connect more IP cameras. 50% means the total PoE consumption is below 50%, 80% means the total PoE consumption is between 50%-80% and 100% means the total PoE consumption is between 80%-100%.

Hi-PoE

Both the PFS4218-16ET-190/240 and PFS4226-24ET-240/360 switches have 2 Hi-PoE ports, which can provide up to 60W for Hi-PoE dome network cameras.

Advantages Of Dahua PoE Switches

Highly Reliable Components

Power, switching chip and PSE chip are key components of the PoE switch. The Dahua PoE switch uses components from world-leading chip and power manufacturers which ensures the quality and reliability of the switches.

A large hardware buffer can ease any sudden data peak and smooth out the video stream

Non-blocking Video Transmission

Video stream characteristics are different from the ordinary data stream. Any sudden increase in video streaming leads to high pressure for the data forwarding of the PoE switch. The flow control function of the switch is enabled by default and a large hardware buffer can ease any sudden data peak and smooth out the video stream.

Industrial-Grade Design

The Dahua PoE switch is designed to work in extreme environments, such as wide temperature range and lightning environments. The Dahua PoE switch can reach lightning protection common mode 4KV and differential mode 2KV. Accelerated Life Testing (ALT) is performed to ensure high reliability and long lifetime.

Video Pressure Test

Whether a switch can handle a large amount of video streaming is very important in video surveillance. Rich experience in video surveillance has enabled Dahua to design and manufacture the best switches for video surveillance. The Dahua switch passed the high video pressure test in a minimal 200 IP cameras test environment, which demonstrates high product reliability.
