ICS515 uses a hands-on approach and real-world malware to break down cyber-attacks on ICS from start to finish
SANS ICS will offer beginner, intermediate and advanced courses in cyber security, incident management and security essentials

SANS Institute has announced a dedicated ICS security training event covering intermediary and advanced skills for practitioners along with a track for managers tasked with strategic planning, policy and leadership.

SANS ICS Course For Active Defense

SANS ICS Amsterdam 2016 takes place from 18th to 22nd April 2016 at the Radisson Blu Hotel in the heart of Amsterdam and will include the ICS515: ICS Active Defense and Incident Response course.

The course is led by Rob M. Lee, a former Cyber Warfare Operations Officer in the U.S. Air Force who was also recently named to the 2016 class of Forbes "30 Under 30" for Enterprise Technology as one of "the brightest entrepreneurs, breakout talents, and change agents" in the sector.

ICS515 uses a hands-on approach and real-world malware to break down cyber-attacks on ICS from start to finish. Students gain a practical and technical understanding of leveraging active defense concepts such as using threat intelligence, performing network security monitoring, and utilising malware analysis and incident response to ensure the safety and reliability of operations.

Introductory Course On Security Essentials

SANS will also be running the introductory course, ICS410: ICS/SCADA Security Essentials led by SANS Instructor Justin Searle, a Managing Partner of UtiliSec. Searle also played key roles in the Advanced Security Acceleration Project for the Smart Grid (ASAP-SG) and currently leads the testing group at the National Electric Sector Cybersecurity Organization Resources (NESCOR).

For managers and those in leadership roles, SANS will also be running the course, MGT514: IT Security Strategic Planning, Policy and Leadership. The course is led by Frank Kim who prior to joining the SANS Institute, was Executive Director of Cyber Security at Kaiser Permanente with accountability for delivering security solutions to meet the needs of the largest not-for-profit health plan in the US. In recognition of his work, Frank was a two-time recipient of the CIO Achievement Award for business enabling thought leadership.

Students learn in a classroom environment, under the guidance of SANS Instructors and fees include evening networking opportunities and supplementary cyber security talks and sessions. SANS is offering early registration discount for participants that sign up before March 2nd.
