The recently concluded sixth edition of South Asia's largest security exhibition – IFSEC India and Homeland Security India 2012 – ended on a highly successful note at the India Expo Centre, Greater Noida. The three-day (Nov 1-3) exposition boasted close to 250 exhibitors from over 20 countries displaying the most cutting edge commercial, homeland security and fire safety technologies, products, solutions and services, with onsite product launches from major industry suppliers.

The event, spread over 15000 sq meters of gross space, attracted 8627 high caliber, senior visitors from both government and commercial sectors. The exhibition ensured that the exhibiting suppliers met both channel partners (system integrators and value-added resellers) as well as the end-user organizations including private security professionals, alongside governmental agencies including defense, paramilitary and police.

Delighted by the resounding success of the event, many exhibitors have already booked their place to be at the seventh edition of the show to be held at the same venue on December 5-7, 2013.

Mr. G.K. Pillai, IAS, former secretary, Ministry of Home Affairs delivered the Guest address during the inaugural conference, speaking on ‘IFSEC 2012: Changing Landscape of India’s Homeland Security’. The inaugural ceremony was attended by eminent dignitaries from the industry, as well as being the chosen event for the launch of the ASSOCHAM-Aviotech study titled ‘India Homeland Security Market: An Emerging Opportunity’. Others prominent speakers included Dr. Vivek Lall, President & CEO, Reliance Industries Ltd.; Mr. Sandeep Salunke, Inspector General of Police, Crime, Uttar Pradesh, Mr. Rahul Gangal, Director, Aviotech; and Vice Admiral (Retd.) P.C. Bhasin, PVSM, AVSM, VSM and chairman, ASSOCHAM Defence Committee Member and Senior Advisor, L&T Ltd.

Mr. Pankaj Jain, Project Director, IFSEC India and Homeland Security India said of the event, “IFSEC & Homeland Security India 2012 turned out to be a perfect platform for security professionals from both our exhibiting companies as well as visiting attendees to discuss JVs, partnerships and associations, sourcing, dealership and network tapping. Vendors were excited about launching and test marketing new products to a hugely receptive audience and were able to generate numerous business queries and close on-the-spot business deals. This is precisely why we’ve received an unprecedented response for immediate interest in participating next year as well.”

“India constitutes 3.6% share of global homeland expenditure and this is set to increase to 6% by 2020, making IFSEC India a vital undertaking to connect the professionals that will drive this investment forward. The Indian Government has increased its security budget by 35%, announcing a spend of USD 1 billion on police modernisation and arranging coordinated intelligence gathering, as well as increasing security for critical infrastructure and its 7500 km long coastline. All of these actions promise an exciting future for the Indian security industry and our exposition in the years to come,” added Mr. Jain.

The importance of the Indian security market was not only locally acknowledged by exhibitors, but was shown to be an international focus at IFSEC India. The event attracted country pavilions from the USA, UK, China and Taiwan, all boasting leading suppliers looking to enter the Indian market.
