Award winning intruder detector from Optex to be exhibited at IFSEC 2010
Redscan has won Intruder Alarm Product of the Year at IFSEC 2009

Optex Europe will be exhibiting its award winning Redscan laser detector and previewing a new product that will be launched to the UK market towards the end of 2010 at IFSEC 2010, stand B20, Hall 5. Redscan, which won Intruder Alarm Product of the Year at IFSEC 2009 and Innovation Product of the Year category in the Security Excellence Awards 2009, is an innovative laser scan detector that can detect a moving object's size, speed and distance, and process that information with a unique algorithm, resulting in high-reliability detection of intruders with minimal false alarms.

When mounted vertically, Redscan creates a 60-metre detection area that functions like an invisible wall; if sited horizontally, it creates a detection area with a radius of 30-metres and an arc of 180°. With four outputs for remote video applications and four truly programmable detection areas linked with these outputs, Redscan is ideal for controlling pan/tilt/zoom (PTZ) cameras.

In line with demand for increased functionality and flexibility, Optex Europe is also upgrading its BoundaryGard series detectors with a new GPRS capability. BoundaryGard GPRS detectors, short listed for the Intruder Alarm or Exterior Deterrent Product of the Year, will also be on show and add another level of reliability to already proven technology. It can be configured to send message alerts for alarm events, arming and disarming confirmation, auto tests, system status and low battery warnings.

Other features include selectable automatic arm/disarm time zones, remote arming and disarming, and variable battery life for up to three years in the field. They are ideal for temporary security requirements such as void property protection. The signal is even more reliable via GPRS and the size of the site is never an issue because of the stability and strength of the signal.

Finally, IFSEC will also see the UK preview of the innovative FIT series of compact outdoor detectors. Designed with the light commercial market in mind, the battery powered FTN-R/RAM includes SMDA (Super Multi-Dimension Analysis) which analyses every motion before signaling an alarm to reduce false and missed detections.

The FIT series has been developed to suit all external environments including balconies, alleyways, doors and windows in daylight and low level light. The 190-degree built-in bracket enables horizontal radiation allowing areas or objects to be blanked out with ease, and the wire-free capability saves on installation time and cost. The design of the detector has been carefully considered so as not to alter the aesthetics of the house or flat.
