SANS Confirms 12 Speakers For European Digital Forensics And Incident Response Summit

Andrew Sheldon, James Lyne, and David Stubley are among the twelve speakers

SANS Institute has announced its final roster of speakers presenting at the annual European Digital Forensics and Incident Response Summit this September over the 21st and 22nd at the Thistle Hotel Marble Arch. SANS has added Andrew Sheldon, a pioneer in areas of Remote Forensics and Triage; James Lyne, nicknamed the Mcguyver of Infosec by the BBC, and David Stubley, a Director with 7 Elements, a respected security consultancy, taking the roster to 12 influential and highly regarded experts who will be presenting during the event.

"Our speaker roster this year is the most complete we have ever fielded at this annual event and recognises the diversity across Digital forensics," explained Jess Garcia, Lead SANS Forensic Instructor EMEA and a Summit organiser, "We have experts that have pioneered new techniques, tools and have worked in a wide range of operational environments who are all keen to share their knowledge and engage with like-minded peers." Garcia believes that the event provides insights from some of the top experts in the field on how to react to attacks and potentially prevent them through a deep understanding of their strategies. The final line-up of presenters includes:

Andreas Schuster, one of the most well known researchers within the community with more than 10 years of Incident Response and Digital Forensics experience. Andreas is also a highly respected tool author, blogger and renowned speaker.

David Litchfield is undoubtedly one of the world's leading authorities on database security and database forensics. Author of multiple best selling books, and regular speaker at top computer security conferences, David is leading the development of tools and techniques for Advanced Database Investigations.

Roelof Temmingh has been a top speaker at events including BlackHat, Cansecwest, Defcon, FIRST and RSA, as well as a tireless tool developer including Maltego, the popular open-source intelligence and forensics application.

Yuri Gubanov, a highly respected speaker, researcher, tool developer and lecturer at the Saint Petersburg State University will also be presenting at the Summit for the first time this year. Gubanov is the man behind Belkasoft, a collection of tools for Instant Messaging analysis. His research in that field has made him one of the world experts in IM artefacts, a key component in most investigations today.

Jelle Niemantsverdriet is a Principal Consultant for Verizon Business and a senior member of the Forensic and Investigative Team for the EMEA region. Jelle and his team play a key role in the development of the yearly Verizon Data Breach Investigations Report, a highly respected reference for security professionals.

Lee Whitfield, the voice of the popular Forensic 4cast and the widely recognized Forensic 4cast Awards. Whitfield is also a passionate forensic investigator and researcher who has pioneering research and tool development in areas such as Windows Shadow Copies Analysis, where he developed Shadow Analyser, the first tool capable of analysis of shadow copies on dead HD images.

Righard J. Zwienenberg is the Chief Research Officer at Norman, one of the leading malware analysis companies in the industry, and board member at different world anti-malware associations. Richard has more than 20 years experience in malware analysis with excellent communication skills that make him a regarded speaker at top security conferences.

Wayne Micklethwaite, Principal eDiscovery and Technical Investigations Manager at Vodafone Group holds an immense experience in the complex field of global investigations at one of the world's largest Telecommunication service providers.
