Software House, part of Tyco Security Products, recently announced the integration of the Elpas Active RFID/RTLS system with the C•CURE 9000 access control and event management system, providing a cost-effective solution to protect the safety of individuals and secure valuable assets.

The integration of Elpas with C•CURE 9000 offers security directors an economical way to protect high-value assets and ensure the safety of people through location-based security. The Elpas RTLS system is valuable in hospitals, manufacturing facilities, museums, jails and correctional facilities or any other indoor building or campus environment that requires real-time asset or personnel tracking.

“By layering the real-time location-based security data of Elpas into the C•CURE 9000 access control and event management solution, we can now offer greater protection and visibility for staff members and assets within a host of settings,” said Jeremy Krinitt, Senior Product Manager, Strategic Integrations for Tyco Security Products. “This integration offers new capabilities to our security clients that can make a real difference in emergency situations by helping them pinpoint the location of individuals in need or threatened assets.”

Elpas utilizes radio frequency transmissions, infrared connectivity and low-frequency magnetic fields to ensure optimal location awareness. Radio frequency provides constant communication and zone location visibility, with the ability to hone in on specific areas within rooms and doorways using infrared technology and low frequency.

In addition to providing real-time location of tagged assets or individuals, Elpas can instantly inform first responders to the location of an emergency situation as it unfolds, along with the identity of the personnel involved. Through C•CURE 9000, video from related cameras can be associated with the event.

Additionally, through this new integration, security personnel can receive alarms in C•CURE 9000 if equipment leaves the designated area. Add a tag to a valuable item such as a laptop, ultrasound machine or a piece of priceless art and you can view alarms from within the C•CURE 9000 monitoring station when someone attempts to remove this item from the facility. The integration solution can also be used to point pan-tilt-zoom cameras to areas of concern when a wireless panic button is pressed.

The protection of staff is also enhanced by the ability to provide the location of RFID-based identification badges. In the event of an emergency, an employee at risk can simply press the transmitter's call-button to summon assistance or if he is knocked to the ground, the transmitter is engineered to automatically request help through C•CURE 9000.

Within the healthcare setting, Elpas delivers a comprehensive range of features, including infant tracking, patient protection, medical equipment management, wireless emergency calls and staff utilization for activities such as hand hygiene monitoring and hands-free access.
