Dedicated Micros Offers BS 8418 Remote Response With NetVu ObserVer

Product Profile

The functionality of NetVu ObserVer, the powerful video management software developed by Dedicated Micros - part of AD Group - has been enhanced to support Remote Video Response Centre (RVRC) operation in line with the requirements of BS 8418, the Code of Practice for detector-activated, remotely monitored, CCTV.

The key enhancements which allow NetVu ObserVer - supplied free of charge with products such as the Digital Sprite 2 and DV-IP Server - to work effectively in a remotely monitored, detector-activated CCTV environment include: auto event distribution to multiple user stations, a SQL (Structured Query Language) database of received alarms with event closure characterization; session management to enable multiple events from a single site to be handled as a single alarm session; auto recording of all locally viewed video and report generation capabilities to enable both billing and maintenance management.

Said Pauline Norstrom, Worldwide Head of Marketing at Dedicated Micros: "We believe that detector-activated, remotely monitored, CCTV has tremendous potential for growth given that a comprehensive standard BS 8418, which covers all aspects of its operation, is now in place and the positive results reported by end users who have already adopted this type of CCTV to monitor their sites, especially out of hours.  With this in mind we have been working closely with a number of RVRC operators to develop this latest version of NetVu ObserVer, which from v1.5 onwards is able to deliver all of the elements they require for BS 8418 compliance."
