The ASIS 2012 Conference & Exhibition will kick off on Sunday 15 April with the President's Reception
 The ASIS 11th European Security Conference & Exhibition will take place in London on 15-17 April 2012

Mr Adrian Kendry, Senior Defence Economist and Head of Defence and Security Economics, at NATO Headquarters will be the opening keynote speaker at the ASIS 11th European Security Conference & Exhibition which will take place in London on 15-17 April 2012.

Adrian Kendry was appointed Head of Defence and Security Economics in Political Affairs and Security Policy Division at NATO Headquarters in Brussels in August 2010 having previously been appointed Senior Defence Economist for NATO in August 2001.

From 1996-2000, Adrian held the Admiral William Crowe Chair in the Economics of the Defence Industrial Base at the United States Naval Academy, focusing upon transatlantic, US and international policy developments concerning the defence and aerospace industries. Concurrently, he also held a Visiting Professorship in Economics at the Naval Postgraduate School, Monterey in 1999. During the period 2000-2001 he worked in aerospace and defence consultancy in Washington DC.

From 2006 he played a crucial role in developing the conceptual framework for NATO's Role in Energy Security (outlined in the Riga, Bucharest, Strasbourg-Kehl and Lisbon Summits) and, in this context, was responsible for preparing and delivering many speeches and presentations on Energy Security in the United States, the Gulf, Europe and elsewhere.

The global financial and economic crisis creates continuing widespread uncertainty and instability. Such instability poses major challenges for international security and, as a consequence, international business security. The keynote address will focus on steps being taken to address these challenges and the prospects for global business set against the backcloth of the changing balance of international economic power. In particular, the opportunities and threats confronting European business will be examined and discussed.

Mr Kendry said: "I am looking forward very much to speaking at and participating in the ASIS 11th European Security Conference and Exhibition in London. The international community of ASIS provides a vitally important contribution to global business and commercial security and I am excited at the opportunity of exchanging views on the nexus between international political, economic and business security"

The 2012 Conference & Exhibition will kick off on Sunday 15 April with the President's Reception. Over the following 2 days, delegates will be able to attend 33 high-level educational sessions divided over 3 parallel tracks. In addition, the conference will feature 3 keynote presentations.

The 11th European Security Conference & Exhibition will also include:

  • Sessions on certification, convergence and standards;
  • Sessions for Chief Security Officers (CSOs) organized by the CSO Roundtable of ASIS International;
  • An enlarged exhibition featuring the latest in security technology and services;
  • Unrivalled networking opportunities at the President's Reception, business lunches and networking breaks.

The 2012 conference has been made possible through the sponsorship of ADT, Securitas, ABM and numerous exhibiting companies.
